Samos has also two unique mountains. The first one is called Kerkis which is the highest of them and is located in the western part of the island. It is not very rich in vegetation and has an altitude of 1434 m. Second mountain is called Karvounis or Ampelos. It is much larger than Kerkis and is located in the central and eastern part of the island, while its highest point is named after the picturesque church of Prophet Elias. It has an altitude of 1095 m and is quite rich in vegetation.
